Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions - Live in Concert - Lakeshore Theater - October 5, 2009
Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions Concert October 5, 2009 Lakeshore Theater, Chicago, IL Video recording by me Audio recording by shalloboi, you can visit his blog/site at: shalloboi.blogspot.com Notes: The audio during the "entrance" of the band is from my camera. The background music that plays during this is by Alice Coltrane, entitled Shiva-Loka. The higher quality audio recording kicks in right before "Blanchard." After "For the Rest of Your Life," Hope's "bouncer" approaches me and tells me that I have to put away my camera so the last two songs are audio only, with a loop of the darkened stage playing on the screen. Setlist: Blanchard Thinking Like That Courting Blues There's a Willow Around My Smile Charlotte Wild Roses Trouble Blue Bird Suzanne For the Rest of Your Life Satellite (audio only) Feeling of Gaze (audio only) Prior to this, Hope had not toured in over 7 years so I not only attended this show, but the prior night's show at the RIverside Theater in Milwa! ukee, WI. Despite the flack she got in many cities during the tour for her "outbursts", I was enthralled by her and the band and I can only hope it won't be another 7 years before we get to see her on the stage again. So I decided to share this with the world so that those who missed out can somewhat experience what I experienced. Sadly this was one of the last shows ever played at this venue - the Lakeshore Theater closed in April 2010.

Tindersticks - Let's Pretend

Tindersticks - Let's Pretend
Tindersticks are an Indie rock band from Nottingham, England that formed in 1991. They released six albums before singer Stuart A. Staples took on a solo career. The band reunited briefly in 2006, but more permanently the following year. The band have recorded several film soundtracks. Staples, Boulter, Fraser, Macauley and Hinchliffe, all former members of Asphalt Ribbons, formed the band in 1991. The final line-up for the Old Horse mini-LP (1991) was: Stuart Staples (vocals) Dave Boulter (organ and accordion) Neil Fraser (guitar) Dickon Hinchliffe (guitar and strings) Al Macauley (percussion and drums) John Thompson (bass). Mark Colwill was recruited when Thompson left the Asphalt Ribbons, but it is not known if he played any gigs under the Asphalt Ribbons name. They then changed their name to Tindersticks after Staples discovered a box of matches on a Greek beach... Let's Pretend by Tindersticks Album: Curtains (1997) Let's not make it into a big thing Let's not get lost ! in this I know it is, I know we could I guess we surely would Let's pretend it's not It doesn't mean a thing Let's not blow it out of all sense As though it meant so much It's always thought about for weeks Not every time your lips meet mine, I think of her But when her hands reach out, I think of you.
